CALABASH, N.C. – The Concord University women's golf team finished seventh at the Battle of Brunswick in their return to the course for the spring season.
Concord posted a three-round team score of 1136 (383, 386, 367).
Freshman
Kendra Lugo recorded a top-15 finish as she tied for 15
th after rounds of 93, 84 and 80. Her score of 257 was just five strokes away from the top 10. Lugo carded four birdies during the tournament with three coming in a six-hole span on the back nine of Saturday's final round.
She scored a three on the par-4, 370-yard 10
th, and then went back-to-back red numbers on the par-4 14
th and the par-5 15
th. Her first birdie of the tournament came in Friday's round when she wrote down a two on the par-3, 140-yard 11
th hole.
Sophomore
Sara Matos Tamargo was consistent in scoring 93, 95 and 94 to place 27
th with a total of 282.
Freshman
Reagan Friel had scores of 99, 100 and 97 to place 34
th. Sophomore
Alexandria Denny tallied a total of 301 to finish 35
th.
Charleston was the team winner by 47 strokes. CU's Mari Filippa Larsen and her total of 223 was eight shots clear of the field as she was the individual medalist.
The Mountain Lions are back in action March 23-24 at the Trailblazer Classic in Traveler's Rest, South Carolina.
