BELLE VERNON, Pa. – The Concord University men's golf team finished 10
th at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (Pa.) that concluded Monday afternoon at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
The Mountain Lions shot a collective score of 896 (290, 293, 313) as they put two golfers in the top 20 in a field that included over 100 golfers. The first two rounds were played on the red course at Cedarbrook while the final round was played on the Vulcan Invite course.
Senior
Noah Clark put together rounds of 72, 68 and 75 to finish in a tie for 11
th with a total of 215. Clark had eight birdies during the tournament, including birdying the first three holes of the back nine during Sunday's second round. Clark also finished with 37 pars during the tournament which was tied for third most.
Clark's second round 68 was his best collegiate score, topping a pair of 69s he shot as a freshman during the 2018-19 season.
Junior
Carson Proffitt started fast in the first round as he tied his career best round of 67 to immediately move into the top five. The Camp Creek, West Virginia native posted rounds of 72 and 78 to finish tied for 18
th at 217. Proffit carded 11 birdies including six during the first round. During the first two rounds, he played the front nine at -4.
Both Clark and Proffitt averaged a score of 4.7 on the six combined par-5s.
Fifth-year senior
Brett Laxton shot rounds of 75, 74 and 79 to tally a final mark of 228. Sophomore
Grant Rosenbaum opened the tournament with an even-par 71 that included three birdies before settling for a 75 and an 89 to close the tournament.
Junior
Colin Wiley had scores of 77, 79 and 84 to finish at 240. Freshman
Grayson Murray shot even on the back nine during his first round 76. Murray, then, posted scores of 86 and 81.
West Liberty's Alex Easthom shot rounds of 65 and 64 to separate himself from the field before winning by two strokes after a final round 76. Charleston edged out West Liberty by one stroke (859-860) for the team title.
