ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team begins the 2021 fall season at home against Chowan in a non-conference clash 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Paul Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia.

RECORDS
CU finished the spring season with a record of 8-2 as it fell in the Mountain East Conference Championship Game. The Mountain Lions start the fall with a national ranking of 14.
Chowan had a mark of 8-2-1 in the spring as it made the Conference Carolinas Tournament Semifinals.
EXPERIENCE COUNTS
Concord has four players that have played in at least 45 career games led by fifth-year senior defender
Alyssa Mahar who will make her 65th career start and her 67th appearance in the Maroon and Gray Thursday. Mahar needs to play in 16 games this season to break the record for most games played at Concord. Fifth-year senior midfielder
Yasmin Mosby has played in 64 career games and ranks 10th in career points at CU with 60. With a goal or two more assists, Mosby would tie Pilar Elias (2015-18) for ninth in program history. Fifth-year defender
Morgan Carmichael's next game will be her 60th. The last full season for Carmichael ended with her being the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Senior forward
Leah Foster will play in her 50th career game. Foster is 14 points away from 100 in her career at CU. The Wigan, England native is fourth in career points at Concord.
ON THE SCENE
The Mountain Lions had three first-time all-conference players in the spring season. Junior defender
Zoe Belding was an All-MEC First Team selection as she scored two goals and added two assists. Belding has played in 31 career games, scoring five times and notching six assists from the back line. Junior forward and Fayetteville, West Virginia native
Courtney Smith transferred from West Virginia to provide seven goals and five assists on her way to All-MEC First Team. Her 19 points were second in the MEC behind Mosby who was the MEC Offensive Player of the Year in the spring with 24 points. A 10-game starter on the CU defense, sophomore defender
Olivia Bekeleski impressed in her first collegiate season to earn All-MEC Second Team.
OUT OF THE GATE

Luke Duffy is 4-1 in season-opening games with his teams outscoring opponents 14-1 in the four victories. Foster had a first-half hat trick in a 5-0 win over West Virginia State in the spring. Junior forward
Rachel Bell scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win against Seton Hill to open the 2019 campaign. Foster scored three of the five goals in a 5-0 victory at King to start 2018. Mosby started her CU career in 2017 with a first-half goal in a 3-1 win at Davis & Elkins. The Mountain Lions are also 9-1 in their last 10 regular-season games played at the Cline Complex. Thursday will be the fourth all-time meeting between Concord and Chowan with Concord winning all three previous games.
CHOWAN AT A GLANCE
The Hawks enjoyed their most successful season since a 12-win campaign in 2017. In six home wins in the spring, Chowan outscored opponents 19-3, but were just +2 in goal difference (7-5) in five games away from Murfreesboro, North Carolina. CU returns its top three scorers from the spring season in Sabrina and Sydney Henderson as well as Michelle Maksimovic. The trio combined for 13 of the Hawks' 26 goals.
