RECORDS

GSC is 1-4 in the spring with its lone win over Alderson Broaddus.

West Virginia State picked up a win over Glenville State to improve to 2-3-1.

THE FIRST ONE
Concord earned a 1-0 victory over Charleston on Friday to move into first place in the Mountain East Conference South Division. Sophomore forward Courtney Smith netted her third goal of the season in the 60th minute on an assist from junior forward Leah Foster. The goal scored by CU was the first score allowed by Charleston in five games in the spring 2021 season. Foster now has at least one point in five of seven games played against UC in her career. The Wigan, England is tied for the MEC lead in goals with four while Smith's goal elevated her into a tie for second place in the league in goals along with teammate and senior midfielder Yasmin Mosby.

LIMITED CHANCES
Junior goalkeeper Leah Marsh saved four shots at Charleston to run her scoreless streak to 299 minutes without allowing a goal. It is the second longest streak of her career behind 333 consecutive minutes of scoreless soccer during the 2019 season that stretched from September 8-October 13. Freshman defender Olivia Bekeleski and junior defender Leigh Wightman have each started during the last three games to assist Marsh in the shutout streak while junior defender Leah Jensen and senior midfielder Elisha Robinson have started the last two games to help keep the opposition out of goal.

ROLLING ALONG
Earlier this season, Concord opened up the year with a 5-0 win over West Virginia State as Foster netted a first-half hat trick—the third of her career. Sophomore defender Zoe Belding and Smith also chipped in a goal—the first of Smith's career. CU is 4-0 all-time against Glenville State, outscoring the Pioneers 36-0. Sophomore forward Rachel Bell netted a hat trick in her first career game against the Pioneers last season, and ended her freshman season with a four-goal contest, just the fourth such game in program history. Foster has five career goals versus Glenville State including a hat trick last season.

GLENVILLE STATE AT A GLANCE
GSC's win came on March 19 as it recorded a 2-1 road victory over Alderson Broaddus. Alexa Smith who had the game-winning goal in double overtime against AB also has an assist on the season. Morgan Smailes and Jasmine Runk have split time in goal with the duo combining to make 48 saves. Smailes is responsible for 30 saves.

WEST VIRGINIA STATE AT A GLANCE
