ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team starts Mountain East Conference Tournament play 3:00 p.m. Thursday as it hosts Fairmont State in the MEC Semifinals at the YMCA Paul Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia.

RECORDS
Concord has won six straight games and enters with a 7-1 record this season.
Fairmont State is 5-0-4 after defeating Charleston in the MEC Tournament's Opening Round Monday.
TRIPLE THREAT
Senior midfielder
Yasmin Mosby, junior forward
Leah Foster and sophomore forward
Courtney Smith rank one, two and three in the MEC in points this season with 22, 18 and 17 respectively. The only other player to have double digit points this season in the MEC is Fairmont State's Kiera Kuzinski. During CU's six-game winning streaking, all three have tallied at least one point in five straight games with Mosby recording a point in all six games. The trio has also accounted for 21 of Concord's 29 goals this season with Mosby's eight goals leading the MEC. Mosby is also first in the conference in assists with six while Smith is second with five. Foster follows in third with four.
EXPERIENCE IS KEY
Thursday will be the fourth straight MEC Semifinal appearance for the Mountain Lions. Senior defender
Alyssa Mahar and Mosby have started in the previous three MEC Semifinals while Foster and junior defender
Leigh Wightman have been in the lineup for the previous two conference semifinal games. Since the start of the 2017 season, Concord is 4-1-1 in the MEC Tournament with the draw being decided in a penalty shootout loss to West Virginia Wesleyan in the 2018 MEC Championship Game. Foster has three career postseason goals in five games. Both of Mosby's postseason goals have been game winners. Sophomore midfielder

Rachel Bell scored a goal in the 2019 MEC Championship.
THE REMATCH
Thursday will be a rematch of the 2019 MEC Championship Game which the Mountain Lions won 2-0 to claim their first conference championship since 2002. Mosby provided the game-winning goal in the 64
th minute while Bell padded the lead with a score in the 82
nd minute. Even though CU outshot Fairmont State 11-1 in the first half, it took until the second half with Mosby's goal to breakthrough. Bell and Foster each had two shots on goal for Concord. CU has won four straight games against the Fighting Falcons dating back to the 2018 regular season, leading the all-time series 6-1-1. On a different note, Concord's defense has a scoreless streak of 398 minutes in postseason play going back to the 2018 MEC Opening Round.
FAIRMONT STATE AT A GLANCE
Mackenzie Gillespie scored her first goal of the season in the 83
rd minute at Charleston to lift FSU to the win. Fairmont State's defense has been stingy this season, allowing three goals in nine games. FSU goalkeeper Taylor Kennedy who made six saves in last season's MEC Championship has stopped 44 shots this spring. Kennedy is also the reigning All-MEC First Team goalkeeper from 2019. The only other player with more than five points on FSU's roster besides Kuzinski's 11 is Emma Delk who has tallied six points on three goals in 2021. Kuzinski has two multi-goal games this season.
