BATTLE AT THE TOP

The Mountain Lions have outscored WVSU 12-3 in three all-time meetings with the Yellow Jackets who are in just their second season of full varsity women's soccer. Earlier this season, the Maroon and Gray downed WVSU on the road 4-1 behind two goals from Foster, one from Mosby and the first goal of the season for junior midfielder
Michelle Brogden. Foster has five career goals versus West Virginia State. Last season in Beckley, the Yellow Jackets jumped out on CU 2-0 before Concord rallied for a 3-2 win on a game-winning goal from Foster in the 72

CLOSE CALLS
The last three visits for Concord at Charleston have been tough contests, but the Mountain Lions have been victorious in each instance. In the spring, Smith scored in the 60
th minute to lift CU to a win despite the Mountain Lions being limited to three shots on goal. Foster had one of two goals in a 2019 road win over UC. Foster was also involved in a 2018 double overtime win as she assisted on the golden goal in a 1-0 victory. The Maroon and Gray just recorded a 2-0 win over Charleston last Sunday as they scored in each half on goals by Foster and Mosby. Brogden picked up her first two-assist game of the season.
WEST VIRGINIA STATE AT A GLANCE
After a three-goal week, Fran Cupertino-Soares is the reigning MEC Player of the Week. The Yellow Jackets were outshot, 18-11, against Charleston, but Naomi Waithira registered a 41
st minute goal to lift West Virginia State to the win. For the first time this season, WVSU has posted back-to-back shutouts with the win over Charleston coming on the heels of a 1-0 victory against West Virginia Wesleyan.'
CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
The Golden Eagles are in a small scoring drought having scored just once in the last three games. Four different players had two shots to account for eight of the 13 shots for Charleston against CU last weekend. UC's seven goals allowed are the third fewest in the MEC behind Concord and Notre Dame. Kaylee Hensley made five saves versus the Mountain Lions.
