CU ranks third in Division II in goals-against average at 0.34 with two all-region defenders in Carmichael and Mahar. Sophomore defender
Leigh Wightman and junior goalkeeper
Katie Maher make up the rest of the CU defense that did not give up a goal in the MEC Tournament and only allowed nine total shots to Notre Dame and Fairmont State. THE TOUGHEST DIVISION
Entering the NCAA Tournament with a 14-game winning streak, CU faces a West Chester team that played in the rugged PSAC East that features four of the six teams in this year's NCAA Tournament including top-seeded Bloomsburg as well as East Stroudsburg and Millersville. The Golden Rams upended Bloomsburg in the PSAC Quarterfinals to help them advance to the NCAA Tournament. West Chester also tied Bloomsburg during the regular season. Meanwhile, the Mountain Lions and their 19-1 record is the best in the Atlantic Region entering the tournament.
WEST CHESTER AT A GLANCE
Head coach Betty Ann Kempf Townsley has made the NCAA Tournament in all 13 of her seasons in charge of the WCU program. Along with Bail and Zach, Katie Crouthamel also poses a scoring threat as she has tallied six goals to match Bail. West Chester fell in the PSAC Semifinals to eventual runner-up Edinboro. However, the Golden Rams are returning to Slippery Rock for the second time in as many weeks as SRU hosted the PSAC Semifinals. WCU is 6-4 away from home this season.
