RECORDS
Concord has won seven games in a row and sports a record of 12-1 overall and is 8-1 versus MEC teams.
West Liberty comes into the contest with a mark of 2-7-4 and is 2-4-4 in the MEC.
THE SENIORS
Prior to the contest, head coach
Luke Duffy and his program will recognize five seniors: defender
Morgan Carmichael, defender
Sarah Cole, midfielder
Ali Cook, midfielder
Karley Poff and forward
Keirston Sutherland. When Poff and Sutherland—the only four-year players in the class—were freshmen, Concord went just 3-10-5.
Carmichael, a junior who will graduate early, has started in 51 games while playing in all 52 games possible during her career. The Fleming Island, Florida native is a two-time All-MEC selection, an all-region performer and has been a part of 25 shutouts in her career.
Cole, who has played just two years for the women's soccer program, is also a member of the Concord women's golf team. Last season during golf, Cole was named to the All-MEC Second Team.
Cook has appeared in 26 games during her career with 18 starts—all in 2017. Cook was an integral part of Concord's turnaround from winning three games in 2016 to collecting 10 wins and an MEC Tournament appearance in 2017.
Poff has seen action in 29 games and her first career goal came near the end of her freshman season as she scored in a 1-1 tie against Fairmont State. In 2016, Poff started 14 of 15 games for the Mountain Lions.
As for Sutherland, she has played in nine career games and has recorded three career points including an assist in this season's 10-0 win over Salem. Sutherland's lone goal came in 2017 against Salem in a 3-0 victory.
RARE AIR
The next win for the Mountain Lions will tie the single-season program record for wins in a season. The 2002 team under the direction of current CU head men's soccer coach
Steve Barrett won 13 games. This year's Mountain Lions have already set the program record for most consecutive wins with their current run of seven victories in a row. During the seven-game win streak, Concord has outscored opponents 22-2 including a 6-0 win over Davis & Elkins Wednesday.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
In Wednesday's victory over the Senators, Concord had six different goal scorers and 10 different players record points. Carmichael tallied her first goal and assist of the season. Sophomore midfielder
Olivia Dougherty came off the bench to provide her first assist of 2019. Junior midfielder
Mira Kontio scored for the fifth consecutive game dating back to the October 9 game versus Charleston.
REAL CLOSE
In his career at Concord, Duffy is 3-0-2 against West Liberty. All three wins have been by a goal. Riding her hot streak of scoring recently, Kontio tallied the game-winning goal in last season's 2-1 win while junior midfielder
Courtney Wallace also scored. In 2017, CU won a pair of 1-0 games over WLU including a double-overtime victory on the road.
WEST LIBERTY AT A GLANCE
The Hilltoppers have the most draws, four, of any team in the MEC. In fact, the other 10 teams in the conference have combined for just eight ties this season. West Liberty is winless in its last five games with the last victory coming against Wheeling Jesuit, 2-1, October 2. WLU has given up 15 goals in 13 games. Layne Hartnell and Kaelyn Oskin each have two goals for West Liberty.
