WHEELING, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team tied its season high in goals as it cruised past Wheeling with a 6-1 victory at Wheeling Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference contest at Bishop Schmitt Field.

The Mountain Lions (2-6-1, 2-4-1 MEC) needed 28 minutes to get the scoring started as sophomore defender Molly Watters scored twice in 100 seconds. The second goal of the season for Watters came when the Wheeling (0-8-1, 0-6-1 MEC) goalkeeper could not get the ball out of the penalty area, and deflected right to Watters for a tap in goal.

In the 31^st minute, a free kick from senior defender Katie Garratt once again bounded around, and Watters powered a shot past the WU goalie. Less than three minutes later, freshman forward Ela Marit Del Orbe scored her first career goal. After the Cardinals had their own scoring a chance, the counter attack allowed Del Orbe to chip the goalkeeper.

The 3-0 lead held up at halftime.

Junior midfielder Eve Harriott scored in the 55^th minute on a double-assisted goal from sophomore midfielder Daisy Cook and junior defender Ella Rowell. Cook got in the scoring column in the 63^rd minute with her team-leading fourth goal of the year as Del Orbe notched her first career assist.

And in the 81^st minute, sophomore forward Charlotte Barnes picked up her first career point on an assist leading to Garratt's third goal of the year.

Wheeling scored with less than two minutes in the contest to keep Concord from recording its second straight shutout.

All five shots for Watters were on goal as she registered her first career brace. Garratt took four shots, and Rowell blasted three shots on goal.

The Mountain Lions return to Callaghan Stadium to host Frostburg State 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.
