Frostburg State sports a record of 4-6-1 and is tied for third in the MEC North with 12 points. FSU is 4-4 in the league.
West Virginia Wesleyan is 5-5 and 4-3 in the MEC—three points behind Concord for first in the division.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Sunday's game with West Virginia Wesleyan will be Concord's Pink Game to support breast cancer awareness. Additionally, head coach
Luke Duffy will welcome campers from the program's summer camp for a reunion.
HAVE A WEEK
Sophomore forward
Leah Foster earned MEC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday after tallying six points for CU in two wins. Foster had a goal and assist in each of the games against Charleston and Fairmont State. Foster now has 20 points on the season and trails only teammate and freshman forward
Rachel Bell for first in the MEC in points—Bell has 21 points. Additionally, Foster recorded her 12
th career assist at Fairmont State, tying her for eighth in program history. Junior midfielder
Courtney Wallace is the active leader in assists with 13 for her career.
RIGHT ON PACE
A season after setting the MEC single-season record for goals with 57, Concord has 30 goals this season just past the season's halfway mark. The Mountain Lions play 18 regular-season games in 2019. Last season, CU had 10 different goal scorers during its 20-game schedule—postseason included. Through 10 games in 2019, the Maroon and Gray has 10 different goal scorers. Bell, Foster, junior midfielder
Mira Kontio, sophomore forward
Olivia Medieros and junior midfielder
Elisha Robinson have all scored multiple goals.
GETTING DEFENSIVE
This season, the MEC has turned into a league where goals can be difficult to come for opposing teams. Of the 11 teams, five have allowed single-digit goals with 10 of 11 teams having played at least 10 games. While the offense for CU has been impressive, Concord's four goals allowed are a league best, edging Davis & Elkins by one. The Mountain Lions and its back line defense of juniors
Morgan Carmichael and
Alyssa Mahar and sophomore
Leigh Wightman have yet to allow goals in back-to-back games and half of the goals allowed this season were against West Virginia Wesleyan. Fairmont State was able to score once in a 2-1 CU win Sunday.
SETTING THE PACE
Concord controlled the entire game with West Virginia Wesleyan earlier this season, but the Bobcats won on the scoreboard with a 2-1 victory. CU took 15 more shots 21-6, than Wesleyan. However, WVWC scored in the second and 73
rd minutes of the game. Foster had the middle goal of the contest with Mahar assisting. Junior midfielder
Yasmin Mosby led the way in shots with seven.
FROSTBURG STATE AT A GLANCE
Besides CU's Bell and Foster, the only other player in the MEC with 20 points this season is Brooke Shehade who has 20 points (eight goals, four assists). FSU snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-0 win over Glenville State in its latest game. Three of the four wins for the Bobcats have come at home. Frostburg State has played three different goalkeepers with all three seeing at least 150 minutes of action.
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
WVWC has alternated wins and losses in its last four games, and will face Urbana Thursday before traveling to Athens Sunday. The Bobcats lost 2-0 to Notre Dame in their last game, but defeated Frostburg State, 4-0, last Wednesday. Haelly Ramirez, who scored against CU earlier this season, leads the Bobcats with six goals. Chelsea Hubner, who had 11 saves earlier this season versus Concord, has 36 total saves in 2019.
