Bluefield State is 6-14 overall.
MOVING THE STREAK ALONG
The Mountain Lions were able to win their ninth straight game with a 73-67 victory over UVa.-Wise on Saturday at the Carter Center. With the win, Concord surpassed last year's win total both overall and in Mountain East Conference play. While Concord has scored 80 or more points five times during its streak, another common theme has been CU's defensive prowess. The Maroon and Gray has held opponents to less than 40 percent shooting six times in the last nine games including limiting UVa.-Wise to 36.4 percent Saturday afternoon. Additionally, CU held the Cavaliers to 20.7 percent (7-for-34) from three-point range.
MILESTONES AHEAD
By scoring 11 points versus UVa.-Wise, junior forward
Madison May is less than 100 points away from scoring 1,000 for her career. May has 908 career points. Meanwhile, head coach
Kenny Osborne stands three wins away from his 250
thcareer victory at CU. Earlier this season, the 19
th-year Concord head coach bagged his 250
thoverall career win and has 259 career victory—only Fairmont State's Steve McDonald has more career wins among MEC coaches than Osborne.
BLOCK PARTY
Sophomore forward
Riley Fitzwater recorded four blocks against UVa.-Wise to go along with 19 points and 13 rebounds. It was the fourth consecutive game in which Fitzwater has recorded at least four blocks, matching the longest such streak of her career. The Glenville, West Virginia native has never had five straight games with four or more blocks in her young CU career. In two games versus Bluefield State last season, Fitzwater had four total blocks.
CAREER NIGHT
Senior guard
Andreanna Pool and sophomore forward
Tamra Scott each had impressive outings in an 83-52 win for the Mountain Lions over Bluefield State on November 13. Pool recorded her first career 30-point game as she went 11-for-21 from the field and 5-for-7 from three-point range. Pool finished the UVa.-Wise contest strong as she scored 15 of her 17 points after halftime. Meanwhile, Scott notched first career double-double in her first career start at BSC in November. Scott made 6-of-7 shots for 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
HISTORY MAKING
The last time Concord won 15 or more games in a season was during the 2011-12 campaign when the Mountain Lions tallied a program-record 22 victories. However, this current group of Mountain Lions appear to be ahead of pace of Osborne's squad seven years ago as they didn't win their 15
thgame of the season until February 13.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
4- Concord has held four straight opponents to 25 percent or less shooting from three-point range.
16- Concord has won seven straight games over Bluefield State and all seven victories have come by at least 16 points.
30- A win for CU on Monday night would be its 30
thwin over the Blues since both schools became Division II institutions prior to the 1994-95 season. The Mountain Lions hold a 29-14 series record.
BLUEFIELD STATE AT A GLANCE
The Blues defeated Johnson & Wales last Wednesday to snap a seven-game winning streak, but lost to mutual opponent Salem 87-57 on the road Saturday. No player for BSC averages double figures, but six different players are scoring at least six points per game including team leader, Kara Sandy, at 8.4 points per game.
