Concord Takes on West Liberty in MEC Road Game

The Mountain Lions enter the matchup 7-3-2 overall and are in a tie for second in the MEC South with Charleston at 5-2-1 
 
WLU is 3-7-2 on the season and 3-4-1 in the conference. 
 
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Concord scored three straight goals versus Fairmont State to pick up a 3-1 victory on Wednesday as it earned its fifth win of the conference season. 
 
Sophomore midfielders Sarah Hill and Courtney Wallace each had three points for CU. Hill netted Concord's first goal while assisting on the second. Meanwhile, Wallace assisted on Hill's goal, and found the net on the assist from Hill and redshirt freshman midfielder Olivia Dougherty. 
 
Hill and Wallace are tied for second on the team in assists with senior forward Pilar Elias as the trio has three. Freshman forward Leah Foster has a team-best four assists. 
 
For Dougherty, she has recorded an assisted in consecutive games after earning her first collegiate on an assist at Wheeling Jesuit Sunday. 
 
The Concord defensive trio of senior Joanna Aiello and sophomores Morgan Carmichael and Alyssa Mahar limited Fairmont State to two shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Maher saved a second-half penalty shot by FSU. 
 
It was the eighth time in 12 games this season that the Mountain Lions have held an opponent to five or fewer shots on goal. 
 
CU shut out West Liberty over 198 minutes last season as Concord outscored the Hilltoppers 2-0 in two matchups in 2017. 
 
Elias and Wallace each had an assist versus West Liberty last season. Wallace assisted on the Mountain Lions' double overtime goal last season in the 109^thminute. 
 
Maher made six saves in her two shutouts versus the Hilltoppers. 
 
Head coach Luke Duffy is 2-0-2 against West Liberty is his two previous meetings. Under Duffy, Concord has surrendered just one goal to the Hilltoppers, a 1-1 tie to end the 2016 season. 
 
Aiello has one assist in her career versus WLU. 
 
WEST LIBERTY AT A GLANCE
West Liberty picked up a midweek road win over Urbana, 1-0, to snap a three-game losing streak. 
 
The Hilltoppers have swept UU this season and defeated Wheeling Jesuit for their three conference wins. 
 
Layne Hartnell is the lone West Liberty with multiple goals this season. Hartnell's twin sister Lauren sports a goals against average of .704 in goal and has allowed just seven goals on the season.
