Concord Mourns the Passing of Hall of Famer Scott George

Scott George Obituary

ATHENS, W.Va. – Former Concord University golfer Scott George passed away at the age of 33 Friday March 27 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Scott was a three-time first team All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (2001-03) including claiming the 2002 individual tournament title.

After exhausting his eligibility at CU, George went on to work for the PGA Tour for 10 years.

In 2012, George was inducted into the Concord University Athletics Hall of Fame for his outstanding play on the golf course.

"Scott was one of the finest young men I had the pleasure of knowing in my 20 years at Concord. He was a great golfer but more importantly he was a great person," Concord Director of Athletics Kevin Garrett said in a statement. "He made everyone around him a better person. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire George family."

A celebration of life service will be held for Scott at Life United Methodist Church in Fairmont, West Virginia at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
