Akers broke the school record in the 500-meter run on Saturday at the At Last Minute Invite hosted by Roanoke College. The Pulaski, Virginia native ran 1:06.73 and won the event. Akers was also on the winning 4x400-meter relay team that clocked a time of 3:34.28.
