ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team wraps up a stretch of home games when it hosts Glenville State 1:00 p.m. Sunday and Point Park 12:00 p.m. Sunday in a pair of Mountain East Conference game at Callaghan Stadium.

TWO-WAY DEFENDERS
The Mountain Lions have scored seven goals in the last two games as it went 1-1 with a win over Shawnee State before falling 2-1 at West Virginia State. Of the seven goals, four have been scored by either defenders or defensive midfielders. Senior defender
Katie Garratt notched her first career brace in CU's 6-0 win over Shawnee State. It also matched Garratt's goal total from last season. Junior defender
Ella Rowell bagged her second career goal at WVSU. And junior midfielder
Lilly Lucas who has primarily played in the defensive midfield in five games this season netted her second career goal versus SSU. Last year Concord defenders and defensive midfielders accounted for eight goals.
HOME SWEET HOME
Four of the first six MEC games for Concord will be at Callaghan Stadium when it wraps up play Wednesday afternoon versus Point Park. CU has only played two games at home this fall, the 6-0 win versus Shawnee State and a narrow 1-0 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan. Dating back to the start of the 2024 season, the Mountain Lions are 14-6-1 at home with two of the losses coming to nationally-ranked teams. Among the wins are two victories over Glenville State and a 3-0 win over Point Park in the 2025 MEC Tournament Quarterfinals.
KEEP THE STREAK
The Mountain Lions have won all 16 previous meetings versus Glenville State including 2-0 and 4-0 wins last season. In the 4-0 home win, sophomore forward
Alana Ferguson tallied an assist as GSU was held without a shot. Rowell assisted on one of two Concord goals at Glenville State. Two seasons ago, junior forward
Ailsa Swinburne had a brace in a 5-0 home win over the Pioneers. While GSU has historically not been near the top of the MEC South, the Pioneers earned their first win in program history over Charleston earlier this season.
POSTSEASON REMATCH
Wednesday's tilt will be a rematch of last year's MEC Quarterfinals as Concord rolled past the Pioneers by three goals. 2025 All-American
Tiana Campbell accounted for all three CU goals. Rowell and junior midfielder
Stephanie Tovar assisted on the first two goals. The two all-time regular season meetings between Concord and PPU have been one-goal games. The Pioneers won at home last season, 2-1, on a 57
th-minute go-ahead goal. The Mountain Lions scored a 12
th-minute goal in a 1-0 win in Athens during the 2024 season.
SCOUTING THE GLENVILLE STATE PIONEERS
First-year head coach Nathaniel Wilkes already has Glenville State halfway to last year's win total of six. GSU starts the weekend in first place in the MEC South with wins over Charleston, Shawnee State and West Virginia State. Solares Solano is one of five players in the MEC with three or more goals this fall. Goalkeeper Lucia Lopez posted clean sheets versus UC and West Virginia State.
SCOUTING THE POINT PARK PIONEERS
While Point Park has only scored five goals in six games this year, PPU has been stingy on defense only allowing four goals in six games. The Pioneers held nationally-ranked Fairmont State scoreless for more than 60 minutes in a 1-0 loss Wednesday night. Rebecca Pihlgren netted a brace earlier in the season in a win over Wheeling. Nicole Kuchinski has saved over 90 percent of shots that have come her way.
