TRIPLE CLEAN SLATEÂ
The Mountain Lions face a unique challenge this week as they square off against Ferrum, Roosevelt, and Young Harris for the first time in program history. This stretch begins with a road matchup against Ferrum on Wednesday, followed by tournament games against Roosevelt and Young Harris. These meetings provide an exciting opportunity for Concord to establish new series records on the court.
FIVE-SET FLASHBACK
With their first win against Shepherd in over a decade that came last season at Virginia State, the Mountain Lions are looking for back-to-back wins against the Rams in the UC-State Crossover. Senior outside hitter Meg Williams (14), senior outside hitter Chloe Thompson (14), and senior middle hitter Jasmine Anderson (10) each reached double-digits in kills to dominate the offense for the Mountain Lions, creating a total of 38 kills altogether. Concord got the job done in five sets, with it being the first of five, five-set victories in 2025.Â
CLOSING IN
Several Mountain Lions are on the verge of reaching significant career milestones this week. Williams needs just seven digs to become the third player in program history to record both 1,000 career digs and 1,000 career kills. Meanwhile, senior setter Paige Richmond is 45 assists shy of joining the elite group of four Concord players who have tallied 2,000 career assists. Thompson needs just 17 more kills to become the eighth Mountain Lion to reach the 1,000-kill mark.Â
POWER UP
Concord ranks third in the Mountain East Conference in terms of hitting percentage, clocking in at .205 to start 2026. The Maroon and Gray have three qualified hitters above that mark with Anderson (.229), Williams (.224), and Thompson (.209) starting strong. CU finished the 2025 campaign with a .185 hitting percentage which was sixth in the MEC.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Concord opens its slate on Wednesday at Ferrum, facing a Panthers squad that relies on a fast-tempo two-setter offense, hoping to get their third home win of the season.
Roosevelt are looking to improve upon a difficult 2025 season that saw them go 2-26. The Lakers sit at 1-2 in the new season, with their victory coming in four sets over Kentucky Wesleyan.Â
Shepherd is off to a rapid start in 2026, cruising to a 4-0 record. The Rams won all contests in 3-0 fashion and are led by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Athlete of the Week Mikayla Riehl. Riehl tallied 44 kills, 38 digs and hit a blistering .409.
Young Harris is off to an undefeated start, winning all four matches they appeared in at the Kentucky State University Tournament. YHU is led by outside hitter Hannah Depp with 51 total kills on the season at a .256 hitting percentage.
