BATTLE OF THE LIBEROS: CAN YOU DIG IT?
This North vs. South matchup Friday night features a showcase of defensive excellence as senior libero Allie Davis, who anchors the back row with 4.97 digs per set, goes up against Fairmont State's Grace DeVall who leads the Mountain East in digs per set with 5.39. Davis put up a stellar, gritty defensive performance against the Falcons last year at the Joe Retton Arena, racking up a match-high 18 digs. Davis is already up over 2,000 career digs for her career and is seeking to average five or more per set for an entire season for the first time in her career. Davis averaged 4.82 digs per set last season, and 4.92 as a sophomore.

TOP OFFENSE VS. TOP DEFENSE
Friday's showdown brings an intense clash of styles to Athens as Fairmont State enters the matchup boasting the top offense in the conference, averaging 13.3 kills per set behind efficient hitters Kailyn Connelly at .327 and Josie Nobbe at .230. FSU also leads the MEC with a .209 team hitting percentage. Concord counters with a premier defense featuring a dominant net presence that racks up 2.4 blocks per set, led by senior middle blocker Jasmine Anderson's 1.27. She ranks second in the MEC while sophomroe middle hitter Addie Adkins is third in the confernece in blocks per set (0.98). Concord boasts the MEC's third-best defense as it limits teams to .139 hitting on the year. To slow down the Falcons, the Mountain Lions will also lean on a high-efficiency attack where top hitters all pace above .200—including Adkins at .226, senior outside hitter Meg Williams at .210, and junior right side Maddie Stull Stull at .205.CU is tied for third in the MEC in hitting percentage at .196.

THIRSTY FOR THIRTY
Entering Friday, Concord is 29-5 inside the Carter Center since the start of the 2024 season. The .859 winning percentage over the last three seasons at the Carter Center is the best among MEC teams. This season, the Mountain Lions have protected their home court with a stellar 9-1 record, completely overwhelming opponents with relentless energy and dominant execution. Over the last three years, CU has defeated the nine of the current 11 MEC schools with Wheeling who Concord lost to last season and Shawnee State who the Mountain Lions have yet to play inside the Carter Center. Two years ago, Concord defeated Fairmont State at as part of an 11-1 home record. In the 2024 matchup, Williams had a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs. Senior outside hitter Chloe Thompson had nine kills and 12 digs. And Anderson added seven kills and four blocks. Senior setter Paige Richmodn handed out 30 assists.

BREAK OUT THE BROOMS, AGAIN?
The Mountain Lions look to complete a season sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan Wesleyan for the first time since 2019. Having already secured a dominant 3-0 sweep over the Bobcats earlier this season in Buckhannon, Concord completely controlled the net with a 15-5 advantage in blocks. The 15 blocks were a season high as senior middle hitter Jasmine Anderson and junior right side Maddie Stull each had eight blocks in the contest. Sophomore middle hitter Addie Adkins added six blocks. CU is seeking its first season sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan since the 2019 season, and the 3-0 win at WVWC earlier this year was the first match sweep for CU over the Bobcats since 2021.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Falcons bring a high-octane attack averaging 13.3 kills per set, led by offensive threats Josie Nobbe (2.76 kills/set), Kailyn Connelly (2.56 kills/set), and Elena Thompson (2.30 kills/set). Setting duties are orchestrated by Belle DeVall (6.20 assists/set), while Grace DeVall anchors the back row with a conference-best 5.39 digs per set to anchor the Fairmont defense.

The Bobcats lean on the offensive output of Bhrooke Axe (3.18 kills/set on a .223 hitting clip), MacKenna Halfin (2.81 kills/set), and Emily Denison (2.60 kills/set) to power their attack. Primary playmaker Mia Myers runs the offense with 4.89 assists per set, while Emily Denison (0.72 blocks/set) and Zoey Hopkins (1.94 digs/set) help anchor the defensive effort at the net and in the back row.
