ATHENS, W.Va. – With the 2025-26 school year officially wrapped up, the Concord University Sports Information Department will provide a rewind to some of the numbers and notes that were pertinent to the success of the Mountain Lions.
Each athletic program at Concord will have their own spotlights in this Emptying the Notebook series. The numbers and notes that may or may not have been used in previews and recaps throughout the season.
The next sports to go up are men's and women's cross country.
Emptying the notebook on men's and women's cross country
2- Violet Wall became just the second athlete in women's cross country program history to earn Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year. She was also All-MEC First Team.
7- The CU men occupied seven of the top 10 spots at its home meet in October to win the Concord Alumni Invite.
8- The Mountain Lion women swept the top eight spots of the Concord Alumni Invite on its way to perfect scoring the meet with 15 points.
10- Braden Ward extended a streak of the men's cross country team having an all-region athlete to 10 straight year by finishing 20
th at the Atlantic Region Championship.
16- Avery Lilly finished 16
th in her collegiate debut at the Catawba Fleet Feet Invite in early September.
19:21- The fastest 5,000-meter cross country time for
Katy Walkup in her career after the performance at the Southern Showcase in Alabama.
22- By finishing fourth at the MEC Championships, it marked the 22
nd straight year that the CU men have finished fourth or better at the conference meet.
23:41- Personal-record 6,00-meter time for
Sara Turner after she shattered her old time by nearly two minutes at the Atlantic Region Championship.
26:04- During his breakout season,
Brandon Canaday ran a 8,000-meter personal record time of 26:04 at the Southern Showcase.
46- Finish for
Reese Hickey at the Atlantic Regional Championship—the best cross country race for Hickey in his young career as a sophomore.
