LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Concord University men's cross country team recorded a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championship Saturday morning at West Branch Cross Country Course.
Junior
Braden Ward became the 12
th All-Atlantic Region performer in program history by finishing 20th—the top 25 finishers earn all-region. Ward clocked a time of 31:34 for the 10,000-meter course. It is the seventh-fastest time in program history at Lock Haven. And Ward extended a streak of 10 consecutive years of the CU men's cross country program having an all-region athlete.
Sophomore
Reese Hickey turned in the best race of his young career by finishing 46
th in a showing of 32:23. Fellow sophomore
Brandon Canaday crossed in 64
th as he sported a time of 33:05. Junior
AJ Skeens was a top-75 placer, in the field of 156, with a time of 33:20. He finished 75
th. Freshman
Johnny Walkup was Concord's fifth and final scorer runner as he was five spots behind Skeens in 33:28.
Junior
Andrew Tickle ran 34:34, and junior
Bramley Childress rounded out the field with a showing of 35:35.
Shippensburg was the regional champion with a score of 60. Charleston scored 62 points in second, and Davis & Elkins was the final team to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship with 100 points.
Saturday was the conclusion of the cross country season.
