LAUNCH PAD
The Mountain Lions turned their home field into a home run paradise in a doubleheader sweep of Point Park Monday afternoon as they belted a total of six home runs in two games, winning 13-0 and 6-2. Senior infielder
Lacie Lewis crushed three home runs to move into third place on the all-time home runs list at Concord with her 26
th, 27
th and 28
th career home runs. Lewis hit two home runs in game one versus Point Park for her third career multi-home run game. Senior pitcher/infielder
Madison Hollis hit a long ball in each end of the doubleheader to take her career total to 12 as she joined the top 10 home run list at CU. Senior outfielder
Alina Giles was responsible for the sixth home run of the day—her fifth of the season. The last time Concord had four home runs in the same game was March 8, 2020 against Malone.
KEEP MOVING UP
As mentioned previously, Lewis is now third all-time at Concord in home runs with 28, and her next long ball will tie Jenna Witt (2017-21) for second on the all-time list at CU. Lewis also stands just four hits away from 200 for her career as she would become the fifth player in program history to 200 hits. Over the last six games, Lewis has netted 10 RBI which puts her at 115 for her career. She needs three RBI to jump from eighth to sixth on the all-time list at Concord. Sophomore pitcher/outfielder
Reghan Hintz continues her climb up the all-time single season strikeout list at Concord as she starts the weekend with 133 punchouts. Her next strikeout will tie her for third while with six strikeouts, Hintz would climb to second on the single-season at CU.
LOOKING FOR A SWEEP
The last five doubleheaders between the Mountain Lions and West Virginia Wesleyan have resulted in a split, including WVWC picking up an 8-4 win in March at CU before Concord bounced back with a then-season high 11 runs in an 11-2 mercy-run win. Freshman catcher/infielder
Hannah Niten was 5-for-6 in the doubleheader with three RBI. Sophomore utility
Blake Jamerson supplemented the offense with a two-hit, two-RBI game two. Hintz was sharp in game two in the circle as she allowed two runs over five innings. Junior infielder
Kendall Morgan had a four-hit game at Wesleyan last year while Hollis notched three hits in a 12-7 victory.
OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
Earlier this season, Concord and Davis & Elkins scored a combined five runs in two games as the teams split a doubleheader. Hollis tossed one of her four shutouts of the season in a 2-0 win as she also contributed an RBI double in the win. D&E won the nightcap 2-1 in eight innings as Hintz collected a career-high 10 strikeouts. Though the scoring was low earlier this year in Athens, the last time the teams met in Elkins there were 39 combined runs in the two games. Lewis had one of her three career multi-home run games in a 13-9 loss while Hollis also homered in the game. In game two, CU nearly overcame a 7-2 deficit as Morgan notched a home run.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
West Virginia Wesleyan comes into play this weekend having lost four straight games, but prior to the four-game skid the Bobcats outscored Davis & Elkins 21-2 in a doubleheader sweep last Wednesday. Josi Fix is up to 50 hits on the season as bats .336 on the year. Madison Austra also hits .336 for the spring with 17 extra-base hits (11 doubles, six home runs). Morgan Greene is responsible for 10 of the 16 victories in the circle.
SCOUTING THE SENATORS
D&E has lost five of its last six games with all five losses being run-rule victories for the opposition. Ashlyn Zapach has 13 doubles, six home runs and 34 RBI to lead the offense for the Senators. Sammie Jarvis has 145 strikeouts in the circle, but sports an ERA of 5.31.
