BOMBIN' BOSTIC
Senior outfielder Korbin Bostic continued upon his outstanding season with a great series against West Virginia State. Bostic batted .625 (5-for-8) with three home runs and 12 RBI en route to his second MEC Baseball Player of the Week Award of the season. On Saturday against the Yellow Jackets, Bostic launched a first inning grand slam in the series opener and followed it up with a two-homer game in the follow-up. On the season, Bostic now has 10 home runs (third MEC) and 47 RBI (second MEC). Bostic had 10 RBI in the first two games of the WVSU series which marked the second time this season the Logan, West Virginia native had 10 RBI in a doubleheader after he had 10 versus Bluefield State February 18.

MORE OFFENSE!
The Mountain Lion offense has been on a tear in the month of April. In their three conference series, Concord has scored a combined 111 runs for an average of 37 runs per series in MEC play. The Maroon and Gray have posted an 11-1 record and won three straight series across the 12-game stretch. Throughout the season, Concord ranks very highly amongst the MEC offensively. CU bats .293 (second), scored 281 runs (second), hit 31 home runs (third), have drawn 218 walks (first) and have stolen 81 bases (second).

ONE-TWO PUNCH
The top of Concord's rotation has been dominant in April as well. Sophomore pitcher Kaden Varela-Payne has been the game one starter for Concord throughout the season and has tossed two complete game victories over the past three series. One of these, a seven-inning shutout with eight strikeouts against Davis & Elkins. Concord is 7-4 in games that Varela-Payne has started. Freshman pitcher Jonah Adams has been stellar in his own right, securing three straight wins in his last three starts for CU. Adams has gone over the six-inning mark in two of his last three starts and punched out a career-high six batters in his last start against West Virginia State. Adams has only allowed four earned runs over his last 17 innings and has recorded 14 strikeouts.

ELEVEN YEARS IN THE MAKING
A heavyweight bout is set for this weekend with the two top teams in the MEC South squaring off in the capital city. While Concord leads the overall head-to-head with Charleston, 50-44, the Mountain Lions have not taken a series outright against the Golden Eagles since 2015. A season ago, Concord went 1-3 against UC. After winning the series opener, 9-3, Concord lost a pair of one-run games. This includes a 13-12 classic that went the way of Charleston in eight innings. Concord isn't new to making some history, as the series victory over West Virginia State was the first since 2017.

SCOUTING THE CHARLESTON GOLDEN EAGLES
Charleston has been atop the MEC South for the majority of the season, holding an 18-23 record (15-7 MEC). The Golden Eagles have been in great form, as they are winners of eight straight games. Led by Samuel Lemond at the plate, who bats .351 with seven home runs. Charleston will throw some very solid starters with RHP Breven Deckrosh holding a sub three ERA and RHP Landon Ingram sitting at a 4.60 ERA.
