ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Athletic Department is set to host the Second Annual Champions Gala April 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Alexander Fine Arts Building Main Theatre on campus.
The event is by invite only, but will also be stream on
mountaineast.tv/concord.
The champions gala will recognize the accomplishments of Concord student-athletes and athletic programs during the 2024-25 school year. Awards will be presented to both male and female athletes and includes: athlete of the year, breakthrough athlete of the year, play of the year, senior class award, newcomer of the year and scholar-athlete of the year. Some awards are not gender specific and include the team of the year, mountain lion pride award, best individual record-breaking performance and the Tom Bone Perseverance Award.
Over the next few weeks, the head coaches for each program at Concord will nominate athletes and then vote on the different awards known as "Roaries"
Dress for the 2026 Concord Champions Gala is formal and begins with a red carpet event.
In the week leading up to the Champions Gala, finalists for each award will be posted on Concord Athletics'
