ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University head football coach Cody Edwards has announced the hiring of three assistant coaches to the program.

Benton Duby will coordinate the Mountain Lion offense in Edwards' second season in Athens. The offensive line will be under the direction of Jordan Johnson and rounding out the staff will be LV Bunkely.

Duby spent the last two seasons on the offensive staff at Mississippi State where he worked with wide receivers under head coach Jeff Lebby. Prior to 2024, Duby was on staff at the University of Oklahoma where Lebby was an assistant coach. While at Mississippi State this past fall, Duby assisted in MSU receivers averaging nearly 13 yards per reception, including Brenen Thompson snagging 57 catches for 1,054 yards. Mississippi State ranked seventh in the Southeastern Conference in yards per reception (12.9). Duby got his start in coaching at his high school alma, Amarillo, in Texas in 2019. Duby will guide a CU offense in 2026 that scored 29 points per game and averaged over 400 yards of offense in 2025.

Johnson comes to Athens from Division I UCF in Orlando. He most recently assisted with the offensive line as an analyst last fall. A graduate of UCF, Johnson has also had coaching stops at Cincinnati and Oklahoma State. Johnson's first coaching job came as a graduate assistant at NAIA school Madonna in Michigan. During his playing days, Johnson was the starting center for UCF from 2016-19 and was named as an All-American Athletic Conference First Teamer twice. He started all 13 games for the Golden Knights in 2018. Johnson is a native of Jacksonville, and takes over a stellar CU offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks in the Mountain East Conference last season (seven).

Rounding out the newest Concord coaches is Bunkley who has multiple stops as a player during his career as a wide receiver. He began his career at Arizona State before transferring to Oklahoma State. He finished up at Georgia Southern where he caught 30 passes for 322 yards in 2024. Bunkley's best season came in 2021 at ASU when he hauled in 33 catches for 418 yards and two touchdowns.
