RACKING THEM UP
Sophomore pitcher
Kaden Varela-Payne was dominant in his start over Kutztown last Saturday. The Raleigh, North Carolina native gave up just three hits and an earned run while striking out nine batters in a 9-1 win. He tossed his first career complete game in the victory, and did not walk a batter. Varela-Payne's start against Kutztown was the first CU pitching performance that featured nine or more strikeouts and no walks since junior pitcher
Jake Robinson had 10 punchouts and no walks against Davis & Elkins in April 2024. For his efforts, Varela-Payne was named the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Over his last 20 innings, Varela-Payne has only given up four earned runs.
FIND A WAY
Senior infielder
Matthew DiSanti has reached base in all 13 games this season after notching his third double of the season in Sunday's contest against Kutztown. DiSanti also carries an active eight-game hitting streak into the Millersville series. After not reaching base in the season opener versus Francis Marion, senior infielder
Sam Stowe has been on base in 12 straight games while junior infielder
Nick DiSanti has reached base in the last 11 games, and in 25 of the last 27 games, dating back to last season.
POWER SURGE
The Mountain Lions smacked three of their eight home runs for the season in the Kutztown series with senior catcher
Kaden Swaim hitting his first home run of the year. Senior outfielder
Korbin Bostic crushed his team-best third home run of 2026 and Stowe delivered his second homer, but first at home. In last year's Millersville series, CU hit four home runs—all in game three. Senior catcher
Austin Hear had two home runs while N. DiSanti and Swaim each had one long ball.
TAKING ON THE BEST
Concord won two of three games against Millersville last year who was ranked in the top 25 when it visited Athens. After dropping the first game of the series, the Mountain Lions responded with two wins over the Marauders to clinch their first series over a nationally-ranked team in program history. Hear delivered a walkoff single in a 4-3 win in the middle game of the series before the Maroon and Gray used the long ball in a 12-8 series-deciding victory. Though he had just three hits in the series—two home runs—Hear had six RBI.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
Since a 4-4 start to the season, Millersville has won four straight games ahead of this weekend's series. Matthew Williams is hitting .463 with three home runs and 15 RBI. Brady Ebbert has also driven in 15 runs to go with a .366 average. Matt Shamany is the only Marauder pitcher with more than one win on the mound. He is 2-0 on the season with 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings, sporting a 0.79 ERA.
