WALK-OFF WINNER
Concord showed its resilience in game two against Point Park. After dropping the first game 10-6, the Mountain Lions battled back to try and split the series with the Pioneers. CU struck first, taking a 3-0 lead in the second inning. But Point Park's high-powered offense hung seven in the top of the third. The Mountain Lions battled back with scoring in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings to take an 8-7 lead. The Pioneers surged with a sixth-inning grand slam to put themselves in the driver's seat to sweep Concord. Entering the seventh, PPU led 12-10. Down to their last three outs, the Mountain Lions put up one last fight. With a few runners on, senior infielder Matthew DiSanti knocked a sacrifice fly to center field to cut it to 12-11. With the bases loaded, junior infielder Nick DiSanti laced a single to left center field that brought home two runs to walk it off for Concord, 13-12.Â
KEEP HITTIN'
Offense has been the name of the game for Concord as the Mountain Lions scored 34 runs through four games this past weekend including five home runs. After a productive weekend with the sticks, Concord has moved up even more amongst MEC competition. The team ranks second in the MEC in the following: batting average (.287), runs (154), hits (194), RBI (133), slugging percentage (.415) and walks (113). The DiSanti brothers have been putting on a clinic as the pair rank top 10 in batting average, hits and runs scored. Senior outfielder Korbin Bostic has been powering the offense, with his team-leading five home runs and 26 RBI. Bostic is tied for second in the MEC in RBI and sits in a tie for third in home run.Â
SETTLE IN
A place where the Mountain Lions are searching for a bit more consistency is on the bump. The pitching staff surrendered 37 runs this past weekend but had some big moments. Senior pitcher Kerry Collins pitched a complete-game gem in the 5-2 victory over Salem. Collins allowed just four hits and two runs, while punching out four hitters. Out of the bullpen, freshman pitcher Ethan Evans collected his first collegiate win in the 13-12 thriller against Point Park. Evans gave up just one hit and one earned run to give the Mountain Lions a chance to win it.
A LOOK BACK TO LAST YEAR
Against the two opponents this weekend, Concord went a perfect 4-0 last season at home. Versus Wheeling, Concord scored victories of 9-2 and 9-5 and they defeated West Liberty 8-0 and 11-7. Across the four game stretch, M. DiSanti collected seven hits, while N. DiSanti and Bostic each had five. On the mound, senior pitcher Logan Darrow tossed a complete game in the 9-2 victory. In two appearances, Collins hurled 3.2 scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits, struck out three batters and picked up a save in the 11-7 win.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Wheeling is off to a red-hot start to the 2026 season. They enter the weekend with a 17-6 record and the Cardinals have started MEC play at a 6-2 clip. Wheeling is coming off both MEC Player and Pitcher of the Week award recipients with senior outfielder Gavin Millians and senior pitcher Sebastian Khan taking home the honors. Millians is one of the premier bats for Wheeling, joined by Edward Mateo and Luke Meyer as a triple threat. Wheeling tops the MEC in team batting average (.320) and they hold the second-best team ERA (4.62).Â
SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
West Liberty is off to a slow start in 2026, as it has a 6-12 record on the season. However, the Hilltoppers are 5-3 in conference play. West Liberty's offense ranks well in the conference, hitting .268 as a unit (fourth). The Hilltoppers have an ERA above 10. Hunter White has accounted for half of WLU's home runs with four. He is batting .403 with 17 RBI. John Thompson has won three games and has a 4.09 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 33 innings.Â
