Dom Collins of the men's track & field team placed 12
th in the 60-meter dash prelims at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships Friday afternoon at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Collins ran a time of 6.72 seconds which was 0.02 seconds off his school record that he set earlier during the indoor season. With the 12
th-place finish, Collins earned Second Team All-Americans. However, those honors do not become official until early next week after the completion of the NCAA Division II National Championships.
The Princeton, West Virginia native finished fifth in his heat, the first of three in the preliminary round, as only 0.04 seconds separated second through fifth in the first heat of the 60-meters. Collins became the first Concord athlete to compete at the indoor national championships since 2012.
A release will be posted once Collins' Second Team All-American honor becomes official.
