RUN IT BACK
Last spring was one of the most productive in program history for the Mountain Lions' offense. CU scored 258 runs which were the fifth most in program history. The offensive numbers were powered by 27 home runs, the third most in a single season in program history. And last year's offense just missed 400 total hits as a team (399) which would have been the eighth occurrence in program history. Concord returns more than 75 percent of the offensive production from last season. Senior infielder
Lacie Lewis (58) and junior infielder
Kendall Morgan (56) were both over 55 hits. Senior pitcher/infielder
Madison Hollis racked up 43 hits despite missing 10 games to begin the season. Lewis was top five in the Mountain East Conference in home run (11). Senior outfielder
Alina Giles added three homers while Morgan smacked two home runs.
RECORD CHECK
Lewis starts the year with 20 career home runs which is fourth in program history. The Kearneysville, West Virginia native is five home runs away from tying her sister, Lauren (2014-17) on the CU career home runs list, and nine away from matching Jenna Witt (2017-21) for second. Lewis' 32 career doubles are currently eight at Concord. In career stolen bases, senior outfielder/catcher
Morgan Gleason entered the top 10 at CU at the end of last season with 30 career steals. She needs six stolen bases to pass her sister, Becca (2010-13). Gleason finished last year with 16 stolen which were the ninth most in a single season at Concord.
1-2 PUNCH
In the circle, junior pitcher
Josi Ervin and Hollis led the way for the Mountain Lions last. Ervin got off to a strong start before injuries derailed her season in late March. In Ervin's third start of the season, she limited California (Pa.) to one run in a Concord win. Two starts later, she allowed an earned against Belmont Abbey. A week before her season-ending injury, Ervin threw a two-hit shutout at Charleston. Hollis got better as the season went on last year. She allowed three or fewer runs and pitched at least six innings in six of her final seven starts of 2025.
LOOKING FOR SUCCESS IN TENNESSEE
The Mountain Lions lost all five of their games in the Volunteer State last season with defeats at Carson-Newman and King and losing a single game to Kentucky State at C-N. In game two against King, Concord nearly overcame a 5-0 deficit before falling 7-6 in 10 innings. CU plated six runs in two games against Carson-Newman last season, and tallied eight combined runs versus Emory & Henry at the end of February, but was unable to hold down the Wasps' offense.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
Mars Hill is the only team that has been able to play thus far in 2026 as the Lions split a doubleheader with Converse last weekend. Lincoln Memorial qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2025 after a 34-win campaign while E&H narrowly missed out after 32 wins on the diamond. All four of Concord's opponents this weekend play out of the South Atlantic Conference which is traditionally one of the best Division II conferences for softball, qualifying four teams for the NCAA Tournament in 2025.
