FIRST-YEAR FOLKS
Freshman guard Micah Young recorded his sixth 20-point game of the season in Wednesday's 77-71 loss to Wheeling. The Westerville, Ohio native finished with 21 points and matched a career best with five assists. Young is tied for the team lead in 20-point games this season, equaling junior forward Boubacar Djigo's total. When it comes to true freshmen in the MEC, Young is first in the conference in scoring at 15.3 points per game. Overall, he is 13th in the conference in scoring. Only three true freshmen in the MEC are in the top 25 in scoring: Young, Frostburg State's Mitch Finefrock (17th/14.0) and West Liberty's Myles Montgomery (24th/12.7). Young has tallied 17 games in double-digit scoring this season, and by ending the regular season with three straight games in double figures, he would tie Ethan Heller (2019-20 season) for the most for double-digit scoring games by a CU freshman since at least the 2009-10 season. Earlier this year, Young had 23 points versus West Liberty.

300 CLUB
On Wednesday night, Djigo went for 15 points and 12 rebounds—his 16th double-double of the season. In the process, he surpassed 300 rebounds for the season as he now has 302 boards this winter. The Cleveland, Ohio native became the first Mountain Lion with at lest 300 rebounds in a single season since Terry Hopewell grabbed 328 rebounds in 32 games in 2015-16. Djigo's 300-rebound season is just the 14th time it has happened in program history, and he becomes the ninth different player at Concord to pull down 300 rebounds in a season. Djigo notched one of his 16 double-doubles in the January 14 matchup with the Hilltoppers as he went for 16 points, on for 6-for-9 shooting, and 10 rebounds.

BLOCK PARTY
Concord tallied five blocks versus Wheeling which was the 13th time this season collecting at least five rejections. Junior forward Eldon Terry led the way with three blocks as he notched his fifth game of the season with at least three blocks—all five games have come since January 3. And over the last six games, the Brockton, Massachusetts native is averaging 2.5 blocks per contest. For the year, Terry is third in the MEC in blocks per game (1.5) while Djigo is fourth (1.2). Terry has at least one block in 13 consecutive games. CU has surpassed 100 blocks for the four straight season as the Maroon and Gray now have 112 blocks, 10th all-time for a single season at Concord. Ninth place is the 1990-91 squad that had 120 blocks.

HALFTIME ADJUSTMENTS
Throughout the 2025-26 season, the Mountain Lions have been a second-half team. Concord is -26 (958-984) in scoring margin this season in first halves. However, CU is +52 (1,094-1,042) in scoring during the second halves this winter. Five of the 13 wins for Concord have come when they are trailing at halftime this season—the most wins when trailing at halftime since the 2022-23 squad that also had five come-from-behind victories. Last year's team was just 3-8 when trailing at halftime. For West Liberty, the Hilltoppers have outscored opponents by 165 points (1,134-969) in the first half this year, but the point differential jumps to an eye-popping +247 in the second half (1,326-1,079). Two of the three losses for WLU this season have come when it trailed at halftime.

IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN
Concord picked off West Liberty, 85-77, last season on the Hilltoppers' home court. It was CU's first road win against WLU since the 1997-98 season. Of the current Mountain Lions expected to suit up Saturday, sophomore guard Josiah Rickards netted 10 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Concord has not won back-to-back road games against West Liberty since the aforementioned 1997-98 victory and a 77-70 win two years earlier. CU shot 52.5 percent from the floor last season at the ASRC and netted 48 of its 85 points in the paint. The Hilltoppers have not lost at home since last year's defeat to Concord, a streak of 22 consecutive wins. It is the third-longest active home winning streak in Division II. CU held the Hilltoppers to 45.5 percent shooting and only eight three-pointers in the win.

PROTECT THE ROCK
Over the years, West Liberty has bred its success on forcing turnovers. This season, the Hilltoppers are forcing teams into nearly 20 turnovers per game, 19.8. Of the 19.8 turnovers by the opponent, 12 are live-ball steals. In the first game this season, the Mountain Lions turned the ball over 18 times that led directly to 19 points for West Liberty. Last season at the ASRC, Concord had 21 turnovers, but shooting over 50 percent from the floor negated some of the offensive miscues. For the Maroon and Gray, 12 of their 13 wins this season have come when they commit less than 15 turnovers. West Liberty has at least 10 steals in 19 of 25 games this year, and all three losses have come when it records 13 or fewer steals.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
2- Concord only trailed West Liberty by two points, 40-38, at halftime in the first meeting this season.

25- Djigo's next double-digit rebounding game will be the 25th of his career.

77.8- MEC-leading free-throw percentage for CU.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
Two of the top four scorers for the Hilltoppers are freshmen. Jamie Muldowney nets 13.8 points per game. Myles Montgomery scores 12.7 points to go with his MEC-best 2.7 steals per game. Montgomery came away with seven steals versus CU in January. Fellow freshman Cameron Williams nets 12.2 points per game. He was West Liberty's leading scorer earlier this year with 18 points against Concord. The lone senior for the Hilltoppers, Dante Spadafora, rounds out the double-figure scorers with 10.7 points per game. Overall, WLU has won 12 games in a row—the sixth-longest active streak in Division II.
