WE HAVE LIFTOFF
In Concord's game at UVa.-Wise last Wednesday, junior outfielder Atticus Goodson provided the Mountain Lions with their second home run of the season, a three-run homer in the third inning. Last spring, CU hit 52 home runs which were the second most in program history for a single season. Of the 52 long balls, the Maroon and Gray brought back 41 to this year's roster. Senior catcher Kaden Swaim hammered 13 home runs a season ago while fellow senior catcher Austin Hear crushed nine home runs in 2025. The Mountain Lions have eight extra-base hits through five games this year.

SLAMMIN' SAM
Senior infielder Sam Stowe tallied Concord's first home run of the season on a two-run blast against Ferrum February 8. Stowe has accounted for three of the extra-base hits for the Mountain Lions thus far. Stowe smacked a double in the season opener against Francis Marion and had another two-base hit against UVa.-Wise. The Hampstead, North Carolina native also leads CU with five RBI. In the early going in the Mountain East Conference, Stowe ranks in a tie for third in RBI. Stowe's production comes a season after he only received 14 at-bats at Newberry, recording three hits and three RBI.

DARROW DOMINANCE
Senior pitcher Logan Darrow was one of the bright spots for the Mountain Lions on the mound at UVa.-Wise. In his first appearance of 2026, Darrow came out of the bullpen to throw three innings while only allowing one earned run and racking up two strikeouts. The last time Darrow was on the mound for CU was in the 2025 MEC Tournament when he struck out a career-best eight batters in 4.2 innings against eventual conference champion Point Park. Last season, the Burke, Virginia native recorded 34 strikeouts across 49 innings. Darrow had two outings last spring in which he recorded more than three strikeouts, versus Point Park and at West Virginia Wesleyan (April 12).

FROM BLUEFIELD TO ATHENS
Two former Bluefield State players go up against their old squad Wednesday afternoon as senior outfielder Korbin Bostic and senior pitcher Kerry Collins square off against the Big Blues. Both Bostic and Collins came across Mercer County when head coach Drew Bailey traded in the navy blue for Maroon and Gray after the conclusion of the 2024 season. Bostic and Collins suited up for BSU during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Bostic hit .301 in two seasons at BSU with four home runs and 32 RBI. Collins made 25 appearances, tossing 48.2 innings with 56 strikeouts in his time with Bluefield State. Bailey racked up 95 wins in four seasons at Bluefield State (2021-24) and twice won the HBCU College World Series.

SCOUTING THE BIG BLUES
Bluefield State's only game of the season resulted in a 12-2 loss to Lincoln Memorial. Jack Sams accounted for one of the runs on a solo home run. BSU went just 5-35 a season ago under then first-year head coach Scott Considine. The Big Blues were limited to five hits in their season opener versus Lincoln Memorial. Bluefield State's pitching staff issued nine walks in the game.
