SIT 'EM DOWN
The Mountain Lions recorded 22 strikeouts in 19 innings of a doubleheader against Ferrum Sunday afternoon. In game one—that ended up going 12 innings—CU struck out 15 innings which was a single-game program record for a regulation seven-inning contest. Sophomore pitcher
Kaden Varela-Payne who was named the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week notched eight strikeouts in his game one start that covered seven innings. Senior pitcher
Kerry Collins rolled up five strikeouts in four shutout innings of relief. In game two, freshman pitcher
Jonah Adams continued the strikeout bonanza with five strikeouts in 5.2 innings which was his first career start.
MONEY MATT
Senior infielder
Matthew DiSanti was the forefront of the Concord offense in the doubleheader versus Ferrum. DiSanti recorded three hits in game one that included his first career triple. He scored both runs in CU's 2-1 win over Ferrum. DiSanti's three-hit game Sunday was his sixth career game with three or more hits, the second most on the active roster. Junior infielder
Nick DiSanti has nine career games with three hits. Not only does DiSanti's five hits through four games lead Concord, but the Wilmington, North Carolina native leads the team in OPS with a value of 1.112.
SLICK FIELDINGÂ
After three errors in the game one at Francis Marion the previous weekend, Concord went errorless in game two versus FMU and did not commit an error in the field in game one against Ferrum in the 12-inning win. In game one, the CU defense got an outfield assist from sophomore
Atticus Goodson, and in the 11
th inning senior infielder
Tyson Burke cut down a runner at the plate to preserve a tie with the Panthers. Before committing an error in game two against Ferrum, the Mountain Lions had a 16-inning errorless streak, dating back to the eighth inning of game versus Francis Marion.
