BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior libero
Allie Davis of the Concord University volleyball team has been named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Davis picks up her third MEC Defensive Player of the Week for the season as the weekly MEC honors are presented by The Health Plan.
The Jonesborough, Tennessee native helped the Mountain Lions to a 2-0 week by recording 45 digs in nine sets of play. She racked up 20 digs in a five-set win over West Virginia Wesleyan to start the week. On Friday night, Davis went for 25 digs in four sets of a road victory at Charleston—it was just the third time CU has defeated Charleston in program history, and the first time on the road.
With Davis' performance and the two wins, Concord can clinch the MEC South Division regular season title with a win at Glenville State Monday or a Charleston loss to Shawnee State Monday.
First serve for the Mountain Lions at GSU is set for 7:00 p.m.
The MEC Offensive Player of the Week this week was West Virginia Wesleyan setter Liliana Beckstedt.
