BRING THE POP
The Mountain Lions smacked 52 home runs a season ago which were the second most in a single season in program history, behind the 56 that the 2010 squad hit. Senior catcher
Kaden Swaim led the home run production with a team-best 13, good enough for a tie for sixth in single-season program history. Including Swaim, CU brings back 77 percent of its home runs from last season (40 of 52). Fellow senior catcher
Austin Hear blasted nine home runs a season ago. Senior outfielder
Korbin Bostic hit seven home runs as part of his 24 extra-base hits which tied Swaim for the most at Concord in 2025. And senior infielder
Matthew DiSanti and junior infielder
Nick DiSanti each tallied four home runs. Based on his 2025 production, Swaim was named to the D2Baseball.com Preseason All-American First Team.
DISANTIS DOING DAMAGE
The DiSanti's shined in their first year in the Maroon and Gray. Matt hit a Mountain East Conference-best .398 which also ranked second in the Atlantic Region. He also stole 19 bases which was fourth in the MEC as he battled through a leg injury the entire season. As Concord's everyday shortstop over the final 41 games of the season, Nick collected 66 hits as part of his .359 average. The 66 hits were second on the team behind Matt's 68. Nick also stole 13 bases and fielded .982 from his shortstop position with only six errors. The DiSanti brothers combined for 40 multi-hit games in 2025 as both bagged 20 games with two or more hits.
ROBINSON TO THE HILL
Junior pitcher
Jake Robinson looks to build off a 2025 campaign that ended with him being named to the All-MEC First Team. Robinson rolled up 61 strikeouts over 58.2 innings as he finished fifth in the MEC in punchouts. He won six games in 2025 and posted an opponent batting average of .291 which was 14 points lower than Concord's staff opponent average. The Raleigh, North Carolina native's best stretch of the season came in mid-March when he had back-to-back starts with six shutouts innings in each game versus Fairmont State and Salem. He recorded 14 strikeouts over those two starts while allowing five hits. Robinson added five shutout innings versus Davis & Elkins (April 5) when he racked up six strikeouts.
BULLPEN USAGE
In his first year as head coach at Concord,
Drew Bailey was not afraid to use his bullpen as the CU relievers combined to make 99 appearances out of the bullpen. One of the most used relievers in the MEC was senior
Kerry Collins who came on in 21 games, tossing 35 innings with 29 strikeouts. Collins' 21 appearances were the most for any Concord pitcher without a start since Bailey appeared in 30 games as a player during his freshman season of 2008. Though he ended up starting five games, senior pitcher
Logan Darrow frequently ran out when the bullpen door swung open as he made 13 relief appearances. Sophomore utility
Braylen Baker was second on the team in relief appearances with 14 as he tossed 27.2 innings.
LET'S HEAD SOUTH
Friday marks the second straight season that the Mountain Lions begin the year in the Carolinas. Last season, Concord opened the year by taking two out of three from Mars Hill in the mountains of North Carolina. Bostic's go-ahead RBI double in the top of the 10
th inning was the difference in Concord's 8-7 win in the opener at MHU. In the second game of the series, the Mountain Lions rallied from 13-0 to defeat Mars Hill, 18-16. Collins was the winning pitcher with two scoreless innings of relief. Baker came through with three scoreless frames, beginning in the third. On opening weekend last year, Bostic collected three doubles and six RBI. N. DiSanti tallied seven hits in 11 at-bats against Mars Hill while Swaim went 6-for-11.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
Francis Marion is under second-year head coach Jeff Jefferson who spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons as an assistant coach at Concord on former head coach Andrew Wright's staff. In Jefferson's first year at FMU, the Patriots won the regular season championship in the Conference Carolinas, but were left out of the NCAA Tournament despite 40 wins. Charlie Bussey hit .437 with 11 home runs and 65 RBI during his All-American season in 2025. Will Dorrell crushed 19 doubles and drove in 44 runs last spring. Robbie Jordan went 7-1 on the mound last year with 57 strikeouts in 67.2 innings. The Patriots do have to replace the production of 11-game winner Rijnaldo Euson who tallied 114 strikeouts in 98 innings.
