Complete Preseason All-American Teams
ATHENS, W.Va. – Senior catcher
Kaden Swaim of the Concord University baseball team has been voted to the D2Baseball.com Preseason All-American First Team, the organization released Monday afternoon.
Swaim, a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was picked to the preseason All-American Team after a consensus all-region season last spring. The CU backstop started in 51 games while appearing in all 52 games for the Mountain Lions. He .349 with 13 home runs and 49 RBI. He added 12 doubles. He was second in the MEC in both home runs and slugging percentage (.657).
Offensively, Swaim was steady all season, but he caught a hot streak at the end of March where he recorded multiple hits in six of seven games while hammering five home runs and driving in 16 runs over that same stretch.
Splitting time behind the plate, Swaim threw out 11 attempted base steals as he sported a fielding percentage of .978.
No other Mountain East Conference players were on the D2Baseball.com Preseason All-American Teams and the only other selections from the Atlantic Region were California (Pa.) starting pitcher Michael Valente as well as a pair of relief pitchers, Zach Herb (Seton Hill) and Mark Wilbur (Slippery Rock).
CU opens up the 2026 season Friday at Francis Marion in Florence, South Carolina.
