BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Redshirt freshman
Dom Collins of the Concord men's track & field team has been pegged as the Mountain East Conference Athlete of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office released Monday afternoon.
Collins, a native of Princeton, West Virginia, sprinted his way to one of the fastest 60-meter times in the MEC this season.
At Liberty, Collins came down the runway in 6.81 seconds which ranks second in the conference this winter. He finished second in the event at Liberty, and in the process ran one of the top-40 fastest times in Division II for the indoor track season. Additionally, Collins was just 0.03 seconds off the existing Concord school record for the 60-meter dash.
Collins' weekly award is the second for the men's track & field program from the MEC this winter after junior
Braden Ward picked up the honor two weeks ago. Â
The Mountain Lions are back in action Friday and Saturday at Roanoke College as they compete in the Bast-Cregger Invite.
