GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Concord University men's golf team placed 14
th at the Hannastown Invite hosted by California (Pa.) at Hannastown Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.
Over the two days, the teams played 54 holes with two rounds on Monday and a third and final round Tuesday. CU had scores of 329, 326 and 312 for a cumulative total of 967.
Freshman
Jeremy Nguyen put together a pair of 79s Monday before firing a 77 Tuesday. Nguyen started the back nine in Monday's first round with two birdies in a three-hole stretch, by carding a three on the par-4, 345-yard 10
th before following it up with a four on the par-5, 533-yard 12
th.
Fellow freshman
Henry Lewis was one stroke back of Nguyen as he recorded a three-round total of 236 (82, 77, 77). Lewis had a team-best six birdies with two in each round. Four of the birdies for Lewis came on par 4s.
Freshman
Jackson Williams fired rounds of 79, 83 and 81. Williams had four red numbers during the tournament with two birdies in the first round and two more in the final round. Sophomore
Coltan Farrell rebounded from rounds of 89 and 87 to shoot a 77 in the third round. Freshman
Shih-Chieh Cheng finished with a total of 259 (89, 87, 83).
Pitt-Johnstown won the event with a team score of 863. UPJ's Griffin Hansberry shot 2-under par for the tournament to grab the individual medalist.
This week marked the final tune-up for CU as it prepares for the Mountain East Conference Championship October 6-8 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia.
