ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio – The Concord University men's golf team placed in a tie for 13
th at the Wheeling Invite at Belmont Hills Country Club Thursday and Friday.
Concord shot 316 as a team on Thursday, and improved by seven strokes to shoot 307 Friday. CU had a team score of 623.
Freshman
Jeremy Nguyen was the top placer for Concord as he had rounds of 74 and 76. Nguyen had a total of five birdies during the tournament. He birdied the par-5, 505-yard third hole during both rounds. Additionally, Nguyen had a pair of birdies on the par 4s 17
th and 18
th holes on each day.
Sophomore
Coltan Farrell carded rounds of 79 and 77. His best stretch came during Friday's back nine where he shot an even 36. Farrell recorded birdies on the par 4s 15
th and 17
th holes as well as a four on the par-5 12
th hole.
Freshman
Henry Lewis had a team-best six birdies on his way to shooting rounds of 82 and 76. Lewis notched four red numbers on Friday with three coming on the front nine—the third, sixth and ninth holes.
Sophomore
Jonah Willson had a two-day total of 159 (78, 81). Freshmen
Jackson Williams (168) and Shih-Chieh Ching (169) rounded out the competitors for CU.
California (Pa.) was the team champion with a score of 574. Cal's Chaz Ekoniak was the individual medalist with a two-day score of 8-under par.
The Mountain Lions have a quick turnaround as they compete at the Charleston Invite at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, West Virginia on Monday and Tuesday.
