ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's cross country teams make their longest trip of the year to compete at the Southern Showcase hosted by Jacksonville State in Huntsville, Alabama Friday morning.

The Concord women finished third at the first meet of the season, the Catawba Fleet Feet Invite. The Mountain Lions were just 10 points behind second-place Lincoln Memorial. Freshman
Violet Wall was the top finisher for CU as she clocked 19:53 for the 5,000-meter course. Senior
Katy Walkup just missed the top 10 with a 12th-place showing in 20:28. Freshman

MEN'S PREVIEW
Some of the stiffest competition in Division II will be on the starting line Friday. Lee and Alabama-Huntsville are ranked in the top 20 nationally ahead of Friday's meet. Mississippi College is receiving votes in the national poll. Alabama is ranked 11
th in the Division I National Poll while a myriad of teams are in their respective regional polls. The course at John Hunt Park in Huntsville is a regionally-recognized course that has hosted the Division II South Region Championship in the past.
WOMEN'S PREVIEW
On the women's side, Lee is nationally-ranked in the top 20 of the Division II poll. Mississippi College and Alabama-Huntsville are in the regional poll. Alabama is a top 10 Division I team. Not only has the course at John Hunt Park been the host of major meets, but it is also recognized as one of the fastest courses in the country.
