Complete Schedule
ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University head men's soccer coach
Alex Smith announced the program's 2025 schedule Monday afternoon.
Coming off a record-breaking season in 2024 that ended with a single-season program record 15 wins as well as the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament, the Mountain Lions are slated for 18 games this fall.
Of the scheduled contests, CU plays 14 Mountain East Conference games—a double round-robin slate against the other seven men's soccer-playing schools—with four more against non-conference foes.
The season begins with a non-conference, neutral-site game against Chowan on the campus of Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, North Carolina September 4.
The conference season gets started early as the Mountain Lions travel to Frostburg State September 7 which is followed by the first home contest of the fall against Point Park September 10 at Callaghan Stadium. CU travels to Buckhannon, West Virginia to play West Virginia Wesleyan September 14. The first of two contests against Charleston will be September 17 at home.
Two of the final three games of September are road tilts with back-to-back contests against teams from West Virginia's northern panhandle—at West Liberty September 21 and at Wheeling September 24. Davis & Elkins pays a visit to Athens September 28.
After a non-conference road trip to Salem October 5, three of the next four games of the campaign are at home—Wheeling (October 8), Frostburg State (October 12) and West Virginia Wesleyan (October 18). CU's longest road trip of the year, at Point Park October 15, is shoved in during the middle of the home stretch.
The Mountain Lions entertain Salem October 22 before traveling to Davis & Elkins October 26. The final non-league game is against Emory & Henry at home October 29. And the final home game of the regular season is November 1 versus West Liberty.
The slate closes at Charleston November 5.
SCHEDULE NOTES
-Three of the four losses for Concord last season were against Charleston who played in the national championship game. However, CU was the only team besides national champion Lynn to defeat the Golden Eagles when it did so, 3-2, in the final game of the 2024 regular season at home.
-The Mountain Lions are 5-11-3 all-time versus Davis & Elkins, however, Coach Smith is 3-0-2 in his two-year tenure versus the Senators that included a 3-1 regular-season win last year as well as a wild 6-4 victory in the MEC Tournament Semifinals in 2024.
-Concord is unbeaten in the last five contests versus West Virginia Wesleyan, having gone 3-0-2 in the last two seasons against WVWC. CU has also outscored the Bobcats 9-2 in those five games.
-The season opener versus Chowan will be the fifth all-time meeting between Concord and the Hawks with the teams having split the four previous games. In the most recent meeting in 2017, Chowan scored a 3-2 win at home.
