KEEPING IT CLEAN
The Mountain Lion defense has been impervious this season, locking down opposing offenses at an elite rate. Concord has an MEC-leading eight shutouts and have only let in six goals this season. The eight shutouts and six goals allowed are both tied for fourth fewest in all of Division II. With five games remaining in regular season play, the 2026 Mountain Lions have tied the program record with eight clean sheets which was set a season ago. Assisting junior goalkeeper Iori Tanka in the shutout streak is senior Zakari Messam, junior Neko Worthy, junior Ben Musengo and senior Ezekiel Oswald have been on the back line the most with Mess and Worthy starting all 12 games.Â
SOMETIMES IT ONLY TAKES ONE
Taking a look back at Concord's recent performances, it was a pair of one-nil games that continue a lengthy winning-streak for the Mountain Lions, now at six games. In the victory over No. 12 Davis & Elkins, senior forward Dominique Malhomme netted the lone goal with a sweet volley. In CU's most recent outing against West Liberty, it was the freshman midfielder Josiah Ochoa scoring the only goal the match had to offer.
OCHOA-MANIA
Ochoa has provided a ton of life for the Maroon and Gray, leading the team with four goals and 11 points as a true freshman. His four goals are the most in the MEC by a freshman. Concord is unbeaten when Ochoa records a point which has happened in seven of 12 games this season. CU has a 6-0-1 record in such games. The Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago native also has two game-winning goals, coming through in the clutch for Concord.Â
SCOUTING THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA FIREBIRDS
The Firebirds have hit a bit of a rough stretch in their season with three of their four wins coming in the first five games of the season. UDC is coming off of back-to-back ties ahead of the matchup with Concord. The big question comes in terms of goal-scoring as they have netted just 12 goals on the season and they may have a tough time against Concord's stalwart defense.
