HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Concord University women's track & field team notched stellar performances at the two-day VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point at Dick Vert Stadium Friday and Saturday.
Freshman
Cassidy Hammonds broke the school record in the long jump as she sailed to a mark of 5.64 meters which was 12
th in the field. The previous school record was set by Sherrice Williams in 2014 at 5.31 meters. Hammonds also moved up to third in the MEC in the long jump.
Additionally, Hammonds sported a personal-best throw in the javelin as she threw 32.74 meters and placed 18
th. Junior
Lilly Jackson was two spots ahead of Hammonds with a toss of 33.92 meters.
Staying with the field events, freshman
Cierra Parker was the top finisher for Concord as she placed fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.60 meters.
Graduate student
Emily Wallace ran a season-best time of 4:44.29 in the 1,500-meter run as she was inside the top 10 in eighth.

Kalyn Williams finished 18
th in a time of 4:03.35.
Freshman
Kate Kelly clocked 13:47.46 to finish 19
th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while senior
Madison Cornett was 20
th in the 5,000-meter run, crossing in 19:54.08.
Sophomore
Charlotte McGinnis ran a personal-best time of 2:40.57 in the 800-meter run.
The Mountain Lions host the Concord Invite Friday at Callaghan Stadium.
