MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team is fourth after the first of three days of competition at the Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships at Mylan Park.
Concord scored nine points on the first day of competition with three events being scored. All nine points for the Mountain Lions were tallied in the 10,000-meter run.
Senior
Logan Zuchelli clocked 31:38.60 in the 10,000-meters as he finished fourth. Sophomore
Braden Ward scored four points for CU as he was eight seconds back of Zuchelli in fifth. Junior
Alex Irvin was 14
th in the event in a showing of 32:45.49.
Senior
Jonny Sweeney placed 15
th in the javelin with a mark of 31.93 meters.
Freshman
Luke Davis is halfway through the men's decathlon as he sits in second in the 10-event sequence. Davis is less than 100 points behind Frostburg State's Marquise Burks (3,319 points to 3,238 points). Davis' two best events Sunday were the long jump where he scored 748 points (6.72 meters) and the 100-meter dash (11.64 seconds). He also won both events.
Fellow freshman
Tobi Adebulu is seventh in the decathlon with 2,478 points. Adebulu's top event was the high jump where he finished third and scored 602 points after a clearance of 1.77 meters.
Day two at the MEC Championships begins 12:00 p.m. Monday with field events and 6:00 p.m. for running events.
