BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team had its final tune-up meet before the Mountain East Conference Championships as they competed at West Virginia Wesleyan's Jasmine Claggett Invite Friday afternoon at Cebe Ross Field.
Graduate student
Emily Wallace was one of two individual winners on the day for CU. She ran a season-best time of 4:41.32 in the 1,500-meter run. For the second straight week, junior
Kalyn Williams won the 100-meter dash as she sported a career-best time of 12.74 seconds en route to the win.
Freshman
Kendall Lilly also ran a career-best time in the 100-meters as she clocked 13.42 seconds to finish third.
Wallace was third in the 800-meter run as she crossed in 2:31.61. Sophomore
Sara Turner ran 21:03.81 in the 5,000-meter run which was third in the field.
Along with the two wins, sophomore
Abbey Londeree added a runner-up finish for the Mountain Lions as she clocked 47:17.19 in the 10,00-meter run.
Graduate student
Trina Lewis sprinted 1:03.06 in the 400-meter dash to place fifth. And freshman Amaya Smith was fifth in the javelin with a mark of 25.63 meters.
Just missing top five finishes were Lewis in the 200-meter dash (sixth/28.36 seconds) and junior
Emma Jenkins in the 1,500-meters (sixth/5:15.24).
Sophomore
Meagan Poticher threw a personal-record of 32.31 meters in the discus.
The MEC Championships will be April 27-29 at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia.
