ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's and women's track & field teams host its annual home meet Friday at Callaghan Stadium.

The Mountain Lions were at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point last weekend.
Freshman Cassidy Hammonds set the program outdoor record in the long jump at High Point as she marked 5.64 meters, eclipsing the previous school record of 5.31 meters from 2014. Hammonds had a personal-record throw of 32.74 meters in the javelin. The top finisher for Concord was freshman Cierra Parker in the high jump as she cleared 1.60 meters and placed fourth. Graduate student Emily Wallace was eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a season-best time of 4:44.29. Junior Lilly Jackson tossed 33.92 meters in the javelin as she finished 16^th.

Senior Logan Zuchelli ran to a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run as he crossed in 15:05.93. Sophomores Andrew Tickle (9:52.16) and AJ Skeens (9:59.95) both clocked personal-record times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as they finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Senior Ian Gardner moved up to first in the 400-meter dash in the Mountain East Conference with a time of 48.72 seconds. He finished eighth. The 4x400-meter relay of senior Ethan Board, Gardner, freshman Brady Prior and freshman Aaron Miller clocked a season-best time of 3:19.59 which was also eighth in the field.

CONCORD INVITE ENTRIES
One of the featured events for the Concord men will be the 5,000-meters. Heading into this weekend, only Zuchelli (eighth) and sophomore Braden Ward (13^th) are in the top 16 of the event in the Mountain East Conference. Tickle (23^rd) and freshman Brandon Canaday (25^th) are ranked in the top 25 of the 5,000-meters. Also seeded under 16 minutes in the event will be sophomore Bramley Childress (15:41), Board (15:48), Skeens (15:57) and senior Zach Wilson (15:58). As it stands, no Mountain Lion is ranked inside the top 16 in the MEC in the 100-meter dash. Prior (11.22), freshman Jaden Judge (11.39), senior Ryan Covington (11.44), freshman Landon Meredith (11.45), junior Devon Banks (11.45) and freshman Luke Davis (11.62) are all seeded under 12 seconds. CU will also be looking to get athletes into the javelin as Davis (41.33 meters), senior Jonny Sweeney (35.90 meters) and sophomore Shawn Bennett (34.90 meters) are the top three entries for CU.

Senior Madison Cornett (13^th), freshman Kate Kelly (16^th) and sophomore Sara Turner (17^th) look to improve their standing in the MEC in the 5,000-meters Friday. Junior Emma Jenkins (19^th) needs a late move in the 1,500-meter run as she is scheduled for the event with sophomore Charlotte McGinnis and junior Emma Londeree. Graduate student Abbey Wallace is riding the bubble ahead of this weekend as she ranks 13^th in the event in the conference. She is scheduled to throw along with sophomore Meagan Poticher, freshman Gracie McAlister, freshman Amaya Smith, Hammonds and sophomore Katie Howard. Junior Kalyn Williams is in the mix for the top 16 of the MEC in the 100-meters, but will need to move up five spots. Freshman Jenna Webb, freshman Kendall Lilly and senior Kylea Pollinger are also in the event.
