GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team split a Mountain East Conference doubleheader on the road at Glenville State Wednesday afternoon.
 
After the games, the Mountain Lions sit at 10-17 overall and 5-5 in the MEC while Glenville State is 16-11 and 6-4 in league play.
 
Game One: Concord 7 – Glenville State 3
A massive first inning propelled CU to a game onr victory.
 
Three of the first four batters recorded singles to load the bases with one out in the top of the first before freshman pitcher/outfielder 
Reghan Hintz got the Maroon and Gray on the board with her own RBI single that kept the bases loaded. Junior outfielder 
Alina Giles proceeded took a four-pitch walk the following at-bat to give CU a 2-0 lead, and junior catcher/utility 
Gianna Sloan-Lebron broke the inning open with a two-run single into center field. Junior catcher/utility 
Morgan Gleason kept the scoring going with a one-out single into center field, taking the advantage to 5-0.
 
GSU scored one run in the second, but the Mountain Lions added on in the third. Giles and Sloan-Lebron reached to begin the frame and were moved into scoring position by a sacrifice from junior catcher/utility 
Kayla Sholter. Gleason drove in her second run of the game on a groundout to shortstop and Lewis gave CU a 7-2 edge on a two-out RBI single down the left field line.
 
The Pioneers responded with two runs in the bottom half of the third, but junior pitcher/infielder 
Madison Hollis tossed four clean innings the rest of the way to close out game one, 7-3.

Kendall Morgan, and Sloan-Lebron each had multiple hits with Sloan-Lebron and Gleason knocking in a pair of runs each. Hollis (3-2) picked up the win, throwing a complete game only surrendering one earned run with three punch outs and no walks.
 
Game Two: Glenville State 8 – Concord 0
After a strong start in game one, the CU offense was overwhelmed in game two.
 
Hintz and Giles hit back-to-back singles with one away in the second inning but were unable to come around to score. Senior infielder 
Courtney Raines reached base on a two-out walk in the third, but did not move from first as CU trailed 1-0 after the top half of the frame.
Glenville State added to its lead in the third to take a 3-0 lead and made the score 7-0 after four complete innings. GSU added a run in the fifth.
 
Hintz and Giles had the only two hits for the Maroon and Gray while Raines was the third and final Mountain Lion to reach base in the game. Freshman pitcher/utility 
Mahailey Nicholson (3-3) took the loss after giving up four earned runs in three innings of work. Hintz tossed one inning of relief allowing one earned run.
 
The Mountain Lions play their first home games at the CU Softball Field Saturday against West Virginia State and Sunday against Charleston with both doubleheaders starting at 12:00 p.m.
