CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Concord University women's track & field team impressed at the 49er Classic Friday and Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center on the campus of Charlotte.
Freshman
Cierra Parker broke the school record in the high jump and in the process notched the top clearance in Division II early in the 2025 outdoor season. Parker went over 1.71 meters which eclipsed the previous school record of 1.63 set by Jennifer Gatewood in 2005. The height of 1.71 meters or 5-foot-7.25 inches is a qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II Track & Field National Championships.
Graduate student
Emily Wallace narrowly missed her own school record in the 3,000-meter as she clocked 10:35.38 in the event—seven seconds off the program record—in her season debut. She placed fourth.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, freshman
Kate Kelly recorded a fifth-place showing as she stopped the timer at 12:54.21.
Freshman
Cassidy Hammonds was just 81 points off the school record in the heptathlon as she rolled up 4,107 points and placed fourth. The top scoring events for Hammonds were the 100-meter hurdles (786 points/15.43 seconds), the 200-meter dash (763 points/26.40 meters) and the 800-meter run (722 points/2:27.72).

Trina Lewis, Parker and Wallace ran 4:11.35 to place eighth.
Junior
Katy Walkup finished 10
th in the 10,000-meter run in a career-best time of 39:47.16. Sophomore
Abbey Londeree placed 12
th as she crossed in 44:46.71, and junior
Emma Londeree ran 47:432.25 for 13
th.
Junior
Lilly Jackson was 17
th in javelin as she marked 31.52 meters. In other throwing events, graduate student Abby Wallace set a career mark in the shot put with a toss of 10.60 meters.
Junior
Emma Jenkins recorded a career-best time in the 1,500-meter run as she clocked 5:00.37. Sophomore
Charlotte McGinnis also netted a personal-record time by running 5:26.56.
Senior
Madison Cornett and sophomore
Sara Turner rounded out the top performances in the 5,000-meter run. Cornett placed 20
th, crossing in 19:19.30. Turner ran a career-best time of 19:48.10.
CU returns to competition March 28-29 when it travels to the Dr. Jack Toms Invite hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
