BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Sophomore pitcher Jake Robinson of the Concord University baseball team has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Robinson, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, had one of his best starts in a Concord uniform Saturday afternoon against Fairmont State. Robinson worked six shutout innings as he struck out seven FSU hitters, including four of the first five batters he faced. Robinson's strikeout total was the second highest of his career. He scattered four hits, a pair of two-out singles in the second and two more singles back-to-back in the sixth inning. He returned 12 straight batters from the second through the sixth innings, and only needed 69 pitches to roll through his start in CU's 11-0 win. Additionally, Robinson was facing the MEC's top hitting team going into Saturday with Fairmont State owning a .314 team average before Robinson quieted the FSU bats.

Robinson was the winning pitcher in Concord's first shutout victory in nearly two years—April 8, 2023—as he improved to 3-2 on the season and is tied for the MEC lead in wins on the year.

Point Park's Jared Campbell was this week's MEC Player of the Week.

CU steps out of MEC play to face UVa.-Wise 3:00 p.m. Tuesday before squaring off with Point Park 1:00 p.m. Saturday on the road.
