HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's track & field team placed 10th at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships that wrapped up Monday at the Cline Indoor Track Complex.
CU scored tallied 13 points. Charleston won the meet with 178.5 points.
On Monday, freshman
Cassidy Hammonds broke the school record in the triple jump with a mark of 10.84 meters, eclipsing the old school record that was set by Sherrice Williams in 2014. She finished fifth in the event. It was Hammonds' third program record at the MEC Indoor Championships after she scored 2,967 points in the pentathlon Sunday, shattering her own school record by more than 300 points.
Additionally, Hammonds' long jump mark of 5.42 meters in the pentathlon portion of the meet was 0.06 meters better than Williams' mark of 5.36 from 2014.

Concord opens the outdoor season March 14-15 at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge in South Carolina.
