SALEM, Va. – Middle distance and distance events headlined the action for the Concord University men's track & field team at the Joe LaRocco Invite Saturday at Roanoke College.
CU recorded three career-best times from sophomore
AJ Skeens, senior
Zach Wilson and freshman
Brandon Canaday in the mile. Skeens (4:34.85) finished 14
th, Wilson (4:35.10) placed 16
th and Canaday (4:37.08) was 18
th.
Junior
Alex Irvin was a top-five finisher in the 5,000-meter run as he clocked a personal-record time of 15:41.35 to place fifth. Sophomore
Bramley Childress came through in 12
th with a time of 16:18.63.
Sophomore
Braden Ward finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run in 8:52.67. Meanwhile, fellow sophomore
Andrew Tickle sported a career-best time of 9:03.21 to place 12
th.
Freshman
Reese Hickey was 11
th in the 800-meter run in his own career-best time of 2:04.30.
Saturday was the final indoor regular season meet of the winter for the Mountain Lions as they will now focus on the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships February 23-24 at the Cline Indoor Track Complex in Huntington, West Virginia. Â
