ATHENS, W.Va. – As the final days of 2025 come off the calendar, the Concord University Sports Information Department will look back on the best moments from the past 365 days that includes All-American recognitions, plenty of growth and change in and around the Carter Center and unforgettable games and plays.

From December 22-31, the year-end countdown will highlight one moment each in the Best of 2025.

At moment 10 is the ever-going change for the Concord Athletic Department. During 2025, Concord hired three new coaches: Cody Edwards (football), Jonathan Kigel (men's and women's cross country and track & field) and Alisa Tasler (softball). Edwards was brought on in January to revive the Concord football program. Kigel replaced the longtime Mike Cox as the overseer of CU's running programs. And Tasler returned to Concord in August after formerly spending time at Concord from 2012-2021.

A new event was brought to the Concord Athletic Department in April—the Champions Gala. The red-carpet awards show recognized athlete performances, school spirit, community service and perseverance.

More newness was showcased in November.

Concord Athletics celebrated the opening of the Woodlyn & Earl Kendrick Athletic Practice Facility. The new indoor space is home to a state-of-the-art weight room, a turf field complete with batting cages, two golf simulators, an approximate 80-meter rubber track, hot/cold tubs and an anti-gravity treadmill for athlete recovery.

The project was made possible by the Kendrick Family, the Shott Foundation, the Preservati Trust, Thomas Whitehead and the Holdren Estate. Helping construct and renovate the former swimming pool space were Main Street Builders, the Concord Maintenance Department, E.T. Boggess Architects, Tarkett Sports, Indoor Golf Shop, BSN Sports, Lifeward and Grand Slam Safety.
