Complete USC All-American Teams
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior forward
Malher Santi Possu of the Concord University men's soccer team has been named a United Soccer Coaches' First Team All-American, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
Santi Possu, a native of Cali, Colombia, becomes the first All-American in the history of Concord men's soccer, and is the 26
th First Team All-American in the history of CU Athletics.
During his All-American season, Santi Possu tallied 13 goals and added four assists. He is tied for 11
th in Division II in goals scored this season with the Division II Men's Soccer College Cup on deck this weekend. And his 30 points are tied for 15
th in the nation. The 1.88 points per game that Santi Possu averaged over 16 games are seventh in Division II.
Santi Possu opened the season with a hat trick in a 5-2 win against Chowan (Sept. 4). He added his third career hat trick in CU's 5-0 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan (Oct. 18). His only brace of the campaign came in the Mountain East Conference Tournament Semifinals when Concord outlasted West Liberty (Nov. 12). Santi Possu had at least one point in nine games this fall.
He caps his Concord career with 52 points which ranks third in program history, and his 23 goals are second in program. Those numbers come in just two years after Santi Possu transferred in from Rosemont College.
A trio of players from the University of Charleston, goalkeeper Kostantinos Parisis and defenders Joao Silva and Franco Tradatti were also placed on the USC All-American First Team.
